Working quarries can provide excellent habitats for local wildlife like badgers, sand martins and other birds, and lots of insects like the digger wasp. Quarrying activities must be carefully planned so that they don’t interfere with plant and animal habitats. Old quarries can also benefit wildlife by being restored and made into nature reserves.
